CHANNEL 5 ACQUIRES BOY TO MAN FOR SPIKE FROM BEYOND DISTRIBUTION
Channel 5’s digital channel Spike has acquired the new series Boy to Man for the UK, launched at MIPTV earlier this year by Beyond Distribution. The title has also been sold to France 5, Discovery (CEEMEA), RTL Germany SBS Discovery Sweden, YLE Finland, RUV Iceland, Blue Ant Media and Canal Evasion in Canada. Due to air on Spike as Wildman: Extreme Adventurer, the 12 x 60’ series follows adventurer and filmmaker, Tim Noonan, on a solo journey of self-discovery, meeting some of the world’s least known tribes. He is put through a series of rituals, initiations and gruelling tests to prove his manhood. From joining snake divers in Cameroon to wrestling sharks on Trobriand Island, Tim not only takes part but also films everything in his quest to earn their trust and to become a man of each tribe. The deal with Channel 5 was brokered on behalf of Beyond Distribution by Marzenna Czubowicz, VP, Sales for Western Europe, and Acquisitions Manager Cherry Yeandle, at Channel 5. Commenting on the series acquisition, Cherry Yeandle at Channel 5 said : “Wildman: Extreme Adventurer sits right at the heart of what Spike is about.
