ESCOBAR EXPOSED DOCUMENTARY ACQUIRED BY CANAL PLUS AT MIPCOM
Beyond Distribution has secured a deal with PLANETE+CRIME INVESTIGATION, the documentary channel of French broadcaster Canal Plus Group, for Escobar Exposed (2 x 60’) at MIPCOM. Pablo Escobar’s son, Juan Pablo Escobar, who features exclusively in the documentary, is also attending the event. Produced by Telegramme Media in Canada, Escobar Exposed is the only documentary about the infamous drug lord to feature exclusive in-depth interviews with Pablo Escobar’s son, Juan Pablo and Pablo Escobar's widow, Tata, along with previously unseen footage. Christine Cauquelin, Managing Director of Documentary and Factual Channels at Canal Plus Group, commented: "We are delighted to bring this documentary special to our PLANETE+CRIME INVESTIGATION channel as it meets our high quality standards and provides our viewers with an original story, a unique angle and exclusive access to the main characters." Marzenna Czubowicz, VP of Sales, Western Europe, who negotiated the deal on behalf of Beyond Distribution, added: “We are thrilled this show will be airing on Canal Plus Group in France. For the first time in 25 years, Juan Pablo and his mother reveal what they believe really happened to Pablo Escobar and it is compelling viewing.” The sale to Planète+ Crime Investigation follows sales of the documentary earlier this year by Beyond Distribution to NBC’s Telemundo channel in the US and History Channel in Latin America.
