December 21, 2012 – That’s the day ‘life as we know it’ was due to end. It’s no secret that many people were afraid of what might happen at the end date of the Mayan calendar. From building survival communities at the top of mountains to constructing underground condominiums in missile silos deep underground, people were getting ready. As well as observing the characters who laid the groundwork for that fateful day and those investing in it, this documentary also looks into the psychology behind the 2012 apocalyptic movement, examining where their beliefs came from and what people got out of it. Were their actions based on fear alone? Or is there more to the end of the world hype?
